Music by Richard Rodgers Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein
Produced by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals.
The final collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to become the world's most beloved musical. Featuring a trove of cherished songs, including "Climb Ev'ry Mountain," "My Favorite Things," "Do Re Mi," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen" and the title number, The Sound of Music won the hearts of audiences worldwide, earning five Tony Awards and five Oscars. The inspirational story, based on the memoir of Maria Augusta Trapp, follows an ebullient postulate who serves as governess to the seven children of the imperious Captain von Trapp, bringing music and joy to the household. But as the forces of Nazism take hold of Austria, Maria and the entire von Trapp family must make a moral decision.

For many people The Sound of Music is revered and holds a special place in their heart. It may be their family tradition to watch it every year, their favorite movie musical or they just love the music of Rogers and Hammerstein. As for me, it was the first musical I performed in
professionally and went on to perform many times. One of the reasons I think it resonates with so many people is because it has strong morals and
teaches us values we like to see in ourselves and others. It strikes a deep
chord in us to believe in and value our family, patriotism, courage, faith,
hope, kindness and love. More than ever we need to feel a connection.
Today, as you are watching this performance, I hope it brings a bit of
nostalgia as well as a reminder to lead with kindness and love.
