Steeple People Press Release

A Note from the Director...

My dear friend Ben Jackson and I began writing and conceptualizing Steeple People almost a decade ago!  Years later, it’s hard to believe that professional theatres are still choosing to put our little passion project up on their stage.  The motivation to write Steeple People came fairly easily for Ben and I.  We both saw the need and excitement for gospel shows in the theatre world and we saw a void when it came to a show about a gospel quartet.  But feeling motivated was one thing; the actual process was a little more laborious.  We went through two readings and a workshop production before we felt we got the show just right.  Reluctantly though, I admit that we still tweak the show a teeny bit even to this day! What an incredible opportunity this has been to work here at Myers with this amazing cast who have been extremely supportive and enthusiastic about the project. Three of the cast members were a part of the original workshop production (Matt, Travis, and Jeremy).  To have them involved with the project again was invaluable.  The entire cast has brought these lovely characters to life and it brings me so much joy.  Thank you for coming to the show and thank you for supporting live theatre!
